Where we started:
Hi, I’m Max - the founder of Boot Locker NZ.
In 2020, I began collecting rare football boots partly sparked by lockdown boredom, but also by a bigger reason. Growing up as a young football player, I didn’t always have access to the latest or 'cool' boots that many of my teammates wore. That experience stayed with me and eventually inspired the idea behind Boot Locker NZ...
What happened next:
...A few years later, I began selling selected pairs from my collection and quickly realised there was strong demand for hard-to-find footy boots. What started as a small side project soon became something much bigger, and in late 2023, Boot Locker NZ was born.
Since then, @bootlockernz has grown to thousands of followers and sales continuing to climb. To date, more than 550 pairs have been sold to athletes from not only New Zealand, but internationally to the USA, England, Scotland, Canada, Spain and Ireland...
Now:
Towards the end of 2025, Boot Locker NZ went quiet on the surface - but behind the scenes, a lot was happening. I reinvested time, money and energy into strengthening the business for long-term growth. This included expanding our storage capacity, building our official website bootlockernz.com, and developing key brand partnerships.
As part of this next phase, it became clear there was a demand for premium accessories as well as boots - giving athletes access to everything they need in one place.

Boot Locker has teamed up with Christchurch based company Fly Grip Socks!
Fly Grip Socks was founded in 2021 when three teammates - Danny, Danny and Luke - set out to create a better grip sock after being dissatisfied with what was available on the market. What started as a simple idea quickly grew into a performance-focused brand trusted by athletes at the highest level.
Today, Fly Grip Socks produces some of the best grip socks and accessories available, worn by professional athletes across the English Premiership, Super Rugby, and the OFC Pro League. Also seen on the international stage including the All Blacks and international cricketers. Fly Grip Socks are trusted repeatedly by elite athletes to enhance comfort, stability and performance.
